Children's book THE SUN JUMPED OVER THE MOON is now in a hard cover
Hello, 22 years in the making and FINALLY and for the last time, the children’s book THE SUN JUMPED OVER THE MOON has a publisher and is in print, as well as a digital book that will be available shortly on Amazon. You can always get the hard copy of the book through me directly. The good thing about that is, you will get it faster from me than through the publisher and I can autograph it for you. The book is for pre-K - 2nd grade children. Although, I have to say that all of the adults that have read it, absolutely love the book. It’s a book that puts a smile on your face. My God Daughter Amanda, couldn’t wait for the hard copy to come out so she bought the E-book online and downloaded onto her Iphone for her 3 year old Bryn. At bedtime, every night for 3 weeks, Bryn asked “To read the book on the phone, mommy”.
A positive of being on lock down for 2 years with COVID is I found a publisher for this book and finished the novel BELLA SUENOS!! More about the novel later. Here is the history of the making of THE SUN JUMPED OVER THE MOON. Twenty -Two years ago, I was living in Evansville IN and one day I was really aggravated at work. Writing helps me control my aggravations. So I just sat down and this story came right to me. I am an artist/painter wanna be, therefore, I needed an illustrator. There were several universities in the town I was living in, so I called the art departments in each school and suggested an art project for their students. I released a few pages of the story to any student who wanted to participate in the project. They completed and submitted the illustrations to me to chose what one best fit the image I had in my mind of how the book should look. For this exercise, they rec’d class credit for the work they produced, I paid $25 a page - for a college kid back then, that was big money - and if and when the book was published, the winner would receive 10% of the royalties. Not knowing squat about publishing books, I thought that was a pretty good deal, as did several students who participated- we have since re-negotiated those terms to be better for her. Emily, now Smith, nailed it, better than what I had I envisioned the characters should look like and the entire illustrations in the book are AMAZING. There was an attempt to get the book published through a start up publishing company a few years back - I am always willing to support a new business - but that was a colossal failure. Pages were out of order, it was very difficult to order and receive the book. So needless to say that project was shut down super fast. Thank you to those of you who jumped in and bought that first screwed up edition. If you can show me you have a copy of that book, I will replace it with this newest, correct version free of all charges - the cost of the book and shipping.
Back to COVID days - so cleaning closets during those lock down months, I found the original art work for THE SUN JUMPED OVER THE MOON and started my search for a publisher. Who knew going through the process of getting a book published was such a major process!!!! Facing several challenges, like I have no patience, severely computer challenged, which includes but is not limited to, ANYTHING social media, copying and pasting, downloading, uploading and changing documents to PDFs, Zip Files etc., working beyond full time for my real job ( I place nurses for short term assignments so you can imagine during COVID how stupid busy I was) and finishing my novel, I learned a lot about myself and the ways of the publishing world, or a least a part of it. And here we are today. The FINAL and for the last time, the children’s book THE SUN JUMPED OVER THE MOON.
